Immigration Stats of European Union Member States
The United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) recently released data about the permits issued by the EU state members. There was a significant rise in Asylum applications, tallying up to over 800,000, which was 52% more compared to the previous year's stats.

EU Registered 5.3% of non-EU citizens last year!
23.8 million non-EU citizens have been registered as the total population of the EU as of January 1, 2022, while the 27 EU countries collectively boast a population of 447 million inhabitants.
According to the data released by the UNRIC, the four countries mentioned below take up three-quarters of the Non-EU crowd:
- Germany
- Spain
- France
- Italy

Migrants Contributing to the Labor Shortage in the EU
The foreign immigrants moving to the EU countries are said to promote labor scarcity in the EU. 9.93 million non-EU citizens were employed in the EU, constituting up to 5.1% of the workforce.
The European employment rate was at 77%, which was high compared to the 62% of the non-Europeans.
