Highlights: Alberta to give $5,000 to skilled Tradespeople!
- The Alberta Government announced a new “Alberta is Calling program” in April 2024.
 - The program is set to provide tax credits to at least 2,000 eligible candidates from the trade occupations.
 - Alberta will give $5,000 one-time refundable tax credits to qualifying Tradespeople.
 - As per StatCan, Alberta has around 76,500 job vacancies for newcomers.

Alberta Announces Incentives for Skilled Immigrants in Trade Occupations
The Government of Alberta initiated a program in April 2024 to welcome skilled immigrants to the country. As a part of the “Alberta is calling’ program, 2,000 skilled workers in the trade occupations will be given a tax credit of $5,000. The tax credit is one-time refundable and can be availed upon meeting the criteria below:
- Be 18 years of age or older at the time of applying
 - Be a PR holder or a citizen of Canada
 - Must be able to move to the province anytime between May 1 & December 31, 2024
 - Be a valid tax resident of the province on December 31, 2024
 - Have moved to the province anytime between May 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024
 - Have been a resident of the province (Alberta) for at least 12 continuous months at the time of applying
