How much must you get paid to acquire a Finnish Residence Permit?
The Finnish government introduced new income thresholds for applicants to acquire residence permits. However, the income requirements will differ based on the type of residence permit, such as study permits, international protection, employment-related, family reunification, etc. The income threshold will also vary based on the location of the applicant’s residence and the type of job position.

List of categories that are excluded from the latest income threshold
The Finnish Immigration Services is offering applicants the option to request to be excluded from the latest income requirements. They can do so by submitting documents as proof that their situation is extraordinary.
Here are some of the categories that do not require sufficient proof of funds while living in Finland:
- Quota refugees
- Asylum seekers
- Individuals with a residence permit that is issued based on compassionate grounds
- Family members (including relatives) of the Finnish citizen
- Family members of previous Finnish citizens or those who have previously been citizens themselves
- Family members of the descendants of the last Finnish citizens
