Ukrainians received the majority of Residence permits
Between 2015 and 2023, the Finnish Government granted almost one million residence permits to immigrants, as reported by PT-Media. Ukrainians took the lead out of the 16.1% of all permits issued. An average of 978,506 residence permits were issued to non-EU immigrants.
Applicants from China, Bangladesh, India, Russia and Sri Lanka accounted for 86% of residence permit applications.

International Students accounted for 7,039 residence permits!
Recent reports from the Finnish Immigration Service show that degree students formed a clear majority of residence permit applicants. 8,762 international students applied for a residence permit, of which 7,039 were issued permits. Nearly 80.3% of the third-country students received permits to study in Finland for research purposes.
