Highlights: IRCC planned to surge the immigration fees from December 1, 2024
- From December 1, 2024, IRCC planned to update immigration fees.
- The Immigration fees will be applicable for several applications.
- Applicants who have submitted a completed application before increasing the new fees will not be effective.
- IRCC will inform those applicants who have to pay the difference before the increase.

IRCC updated the visa application fees

Applicants who have paid the old fees
It will not be effective if the applicant has already submitted a complete online application before the newly updated fees. Applications received and confirmed by IRCC immediately after submission are already paid.
If an applicant has submitted a graduation extension, then there is a chance that they will have paid the old fee before IRCC receives your application. If the fee has changed since the applicant has sent in a paper application, IRCC will not reject your application until and unless:
- Paid the total fees (old fees)
- Submitted a complete application
- Applied for the application before the fee changed
Once IRCC receives the application, it will inform you how to submit the payment for the difference between the new and old fees.

Steps to calculate the fee differences
If the applicants have to pay the difference between the old and new application fees, they will have to issue a payment and submit the receipt with the application.
Below are the steps to estimate the difference:

Step 2: Click on the “Make an additional payment or pay other fees”
Step 3: Pay the remaining fees
Step 4: Receive the receipt
Step 5: Submit the receipt
