Yukon Nominee Candidates to receive Canada work permits
The Canadian government announced issuing work permits to foreigners working in Yukon. On October 1, 2024, Marc Miller confirmed temporary measures to grant Canada work visas to a maximum of 215 Yukon candidates. The work permit will allow qualifying foreign nationals to continue being employed in Yukon while their PR application under the YNP is still underway. The recent changes come after the earlier announcement of temporary policies offering open work permits to candidates enrolled in some PNP programs. Provincial Nominee programs like the Alberta PNP and Manitoba PNP were the first provinces to receive similar changes.

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for a Canada work permit, the YNP candidate must fulfill the below criteria:
- Be working with legal work status for an employer in Yukon
- Have already applied for the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)
- Must have backing from the Yukon Government
- Submit proof that they are more likely to receive permanent presence in 2025 or 2026
- Fulfill the other program-related criteria

Upcoming Immigration Levels Plan of Canada
The new Immigration Levels Plan for the next three years (2025-27) will be announced on November 1, 2024. This plan would be the first to include temporary resident levels. The plan will include immigration and provisional targets for the coming two years. New rules for foreign work visas and permits will also be implemented from 1st Nov, 2024.
