Italy will grant more Migrant Work Visas in 2025
There is currently a high demand for caregivers in Italy. The Italian government plans to offer 10,000 more caregiver work visas in 2025. The newly announced quota will expand the existing cap of 452,000 for 2023-25. The decision is being taken to address the country's aging population and descending birth rate. The Sant'Egidio Catholic group, including other charities, is partnering with the government to facilitate more migrants from foreign countries.
The additional quota, now known as the “experimental” quota, will be included in the current migrant work visa quota. The 452,000 quota for 2023-25 announced last year is around 150% more than the last three years.

Italian Government to introduce New Anti-fraud measures
The Government of Italy also plans to implement new anti-fraud measures to control illegal immigration activities. New rules will be introduced in 2025 to prevent fraud in visa applications from high-risk countries. Italy will bring in more legal immigration pathways to cater to the ongoing labor shortage situation. One of the most recent actions taken was that aircraft charities that locate boats with migrants in distress must immediately contact authorities about any movement changes; if not, they can risk being penalized. In 2025, stricter anti-fraud rules will be imposed on Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan visa applications.
