Portugal Launches New Portal for Work Visa Regularizations
The new platform, launched by the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA), will regularize work visa applications. The portal will process applications with advanced automated and digitalized services. With the new platform, the AIMA aims to speed up the processing of citizenship applications by 50%.
Individuals with job contracts who made contributions to Social Security prior June 4, 2024, will be allowed to regularize their status. The contribution requirements have been lowered to one month from the previous twelve months.

New Changes Announced to the Golden visa application Process
The Portugal Golden Visa program allows non-EU nationals to make financial investments in the country in exchange for residency. AIMA, or the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum, has announced new changes to streamline the Golden visa application process. This transition to a digital system will focus on previously submitted visa applications, making electronic submissions mandatory for all Golden visa applicants.
The list of new changes is as follows:
- All applicants must submit the documents online via the ARI portal.
- Starting January 15, 2025, the appointments for biometrics can be scheduled automatically after upgrading accounts.
- The Portugal residence permit fees must now be paid at the biometric appointment, allowing a payment mode of cards only. The cost of a certified document is €6,045.20 per application, while the uncertified documents cost around €8,060.20
