Canada’s new citizenship pathway
Canada has come up with a new citizenship pathway for immigrants. According to the plan, international students or individuals with expired visas can now apply for Canada PR. Marc Miller, the Immigration Minister of Canada, announced plans to promote a streamlined program for candidates with expired visas.
As per the report, around 300,000 immigrants live in Canada with incomplete or invalid documents, posing a significant threat to their status there. The new program will allow the following set of candidates mentioned below:
- Individuals who entered the country with improper or incomplete documentation.
- Temporary workers with expired visas
- International students living beyond the expiration of the visa.

Immigration Levels Plan 2024-26
The IRCC released the Canada Immigration Levels Plan for the FY 2024-26. As per the data, the country plans to invite a target number of 5 million immigrants by 2026.
