All UAE residents applying for a Portugal visa must give biometrics — fingerprints and a digital photo — at VFS Global visa application centres in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Biometrics are usually required once every 59 months for Schengen visas; if you have provided fingerprints for a Schengen visa during this period, they may be reused, provided they are still valid. For first-time applicants, personal attendance is mandatory. Along with biometrics, you will also submit your application, documents, and visa fee at the centre during your scheduled appointment.
