UK Skilled Worker Visa Renewal
The UK Home Office has implemented major changes to renew sponsor licenses that facilitate easy hiring of foreign workers for local businesses. The changes will come into effect on April 6, replacing the four-year renewal policy with ten years.
The changes aim to streamline the process and cost of periodic renewals and offer significant relief to employers hiring foreign workers. The previous system required sponsors to apply 90 days before the expiry date, with a renewal processing time of up to eight weeks. The renewal fees ranged from £536 to £1476, based on the size and charity status.

Changes proposed for the UK Skilled Worker Visa
The UK Home Office is opting for an automated approach considering the challenges faced previously. Eliminating the need for renewal, sponsor licenses expiring on or after April 6, 2024, are eligible for an automatic extension of ten years.
Sponsors with valid licences need not take any action as the extension automatically covers their licenses. Workers are now required to earn £38,700 instead of the current £26,000 to apply for a UK Work Visa.
The Home Office also announced that it would arrange a refund of application fees for sponsors who have initiated the renewal process.
The sponsors can access the "License Summary" from the online Sponsorship Management System (SMS) to check the expiry date of their licenses.
